Avra's (henriettawallace) Account

Well, I had finally reached Helix, after quite the travels and it doesn’t quite live up to any expectations, does it. Some smiling man, Guildmaster Olsen or some such or other was the one who’s apparently the leader here, so had a speaking with him and he brought me to three odd fellows and introduced me to them as men prepared for travailing out in the barrowlands and so we set out, the others gathering such what they’d need, in his case, a man sorcerer and his insects. At his point, I came across a sight I didn’t reckon I’d see again since exile from the sea, a galley, though a minuscule one, floating through some wonder of sorcery. At this point, atop a crow’s nest on a galley pulled by horses, I, along with the others, set out in search of plunder.

We rode (on ant’s transmuted into horses) out northwest then southwest (as I recall) to the Barrows in search of some enchanted transportation pool, but much to our disappointment, rigorous logs had not been kept and the details of the location of this pool was lost. This having happened, I began a complex plan for finding the lost pool. By shifting into the skin of a dolphin and filling the ensorcelled gally with water, we began the process of searching for the pool by means of the second sight of dolphins.

We cleaved open a barrow door (in O5) and scanned it, finding no water, but searching it anyway, encountering a sarcophagus which was cracked open and looted for some strange bottles (perfumes worth 415) as I recall. Upon exiting the tomb, our mounts were accosted by some strange ghoulish foes, with too long, thin fingers, emaciated with paralytic claws and an unnatural tinge to their skin and flesh. The fighting was drawn out and violent, with Agurne being reduced to unconscious paralysis, and was decisively finished by a pair of Scamdalf’s arcane lightning bolts.

After some beetles were transformed into horses and controlled, then we traveled to (L8), and found an open barrow structured as a dome with an oily, steaming black pool.

We went into a dungeon, traveled down the halls, I transformed into a petrel and flew into a room with some skeletons, one of which clawed at me. Then after it was netted and killed, we gained a satchel of rubies (four worth 400 each). Further, nearby rooms were empty, until a false brick wall with two iron portcullises and two levers on opposing ends of a hall, one room had a skeleton with a silver bracelet, the other twitching spider webs.

After this last examination we retreated back to Helix and identified the magical helm and dagger we retrieved, which protects as a shield and does more harm, respectively.
